April 22-24, 2019 ~ From the Heart to the Lens Photography Workshop: Photographing Tulips at Longwood Gardens (Kennett Square, PA)
Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA in April may be the closet thing to the tulips blooming at Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse (South Amsterdam), the Netherlands. The variety and volume of blooms is incredible and it is a feast for the eyes and the soul. The goal of this hands-on Workshop is to teach you to capture these beautiful blooms in a new and different way than you’ve experienced before.
To celebrate these fabulous flowers, my Tulip Workshop will be held at the height of the Longwood Gardens Tulip blooming season, April 22-24, 2019.
This is a “hands-on” photography workshop. I will instruct on using a variety of lenses you own/rent (macro, telephoto, Lensbaby and traditional lenses with extension tubes) to photograph flowers along with a variety of techniques to ensure you capture your flowers in a way that touches your heart in a very special way. We will work outside in the gardens (weather permitting) where the Tulips abound but there are also wonderful flowers inside the Conservatory that are deserving of our time and attention. This will allow you to learn and experience how to use both outdoor and indoor lighting to obtain proper exposure of your flower subject.
As we photograph, I will teach you “best practices” for capturing not only Tulips but a variety of other flowers. The best thing I can give you is the ability to “see” the finished image before you approach a flower you want to photograph. Elements of photography like f/stop, depth-of-field, shoot-thru, in-camera effects and the use of reflectors/diffusers will be explained and demonstrated in the group and reinforced one-on-one with you.
The available Session times are: Monday, 4.22.19 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Tuesday, 4.23.19 9:00 am to Noon, Tuesday 4.23.19 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm and Wednesday 4:24.19 9:00 am to Noon. If you will be staying in our host hotel, The Hilton Garden Inn in Kennett Square, I will be reviewing photos for attendees between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm Monday and Tuesday evening.
An After-Shoot Webinar
I will hold a 60-minute webinar two weeks after the Photography Workshop for attendees only where I will review some of your images and demonstrate options for post-processing the images. The webinar will remain online for 30 days so that you can go back and re-watch the techniques I will be teaching. And, the webinar will be provided to attendees at no additional cost!
When you sign-up you will be able to choose what sessions you want to attend on what day. Monday is an afternoon only session. Tuesday there is a morning and afternoon session. Each session is $139 and taking both sessions in the same day is $250. You may also take two afternoon sessions Monday and Tuesday at a cost of $260 and the cost for three sessions is $375.
